Howdy, y'all!

I happen to be TDY in KC and I have already made a couple of forays into the wilderness, looking for aircraft deserving photographic preservation.

I plan to go soon to shoot the Twin in Rantoul.

The question would be, anything else nearby?

Anything good at the Richards Gebaur?
What about VFW or American legion displays?

I have gone to see the Connie, too.

Thanks!

Tulio

I'll be doing a flight on the Sea Fury this afternoon at Lee's Summit. Pres. Bush is in town and there's a TFR until around noon.

Then down to Breckenridge tomorrow, and Reno on Friday.

Steve

Hey Mr. Patterson, You've gotta come buzz my farm sometime. Glad to hear you've got your Seafury back.

Tulio - Was on the Interstate west out of Kansas City a couple of weeks ago, and started seeing signs along the way for an air museum. Each sign featured a Corsair. It ended up being a very long ways out of K.C., though, for the turn-off to the museum. Don't remember the name of the museum, and don't know how far out of K.C. you are traveling, but I wanted to mention it, just in case.

Well, I will probably be here for a month or so, and then it is likely that when Mr. Patterson returns, I will be able to go see his airplanes.

I have been to the Liberal KS museum a couple of years ago, and also to the Topeka ANG museum; both are really worth the trip. I have seen the Kansas Aviation museum and the AFB display (The name eludes me right now) in Wichita.

I am always looking for the junked airplanes, weedgrown, abandoned airframes and also for publicly displayed aircraft.

Saludos!

Tulio

About 60 west of KC there's an F-84 at Washington airport in between Linn and the city of Washington. You can take a 2 1/2 hour drive to Wichita too the Kansas Avation Musuem where the Beech Jet Mentor still sits outside in the wheather year round. Only one Jet Mentor was built, sad to see such a rare aircraft sitting outside. On the way to Wichita Stop at Emporia the town park has an UH-1 on a pole along with an M4 Sherman tank on display. Jabarra airport has a P-51D Mustang and a Saab Drakken also in Wichita. Try the Combay Air Musuem in opeka they have an NAA O-47, EC-121,F-101,F105, along with a few other warbirds. The airport in Olathe on the south side of K.C. has a group that works on C-47, also a couple of A-4's and an A-7 on display at a small park within the airport grounds.
