Was this the B-29 used in "The Right Stuff"? I didnt know Weeks' "Fertile Mertyl" was the actual aircraft. I thought it was just painted to represent that aircraft.

Hi;This B-29 had been modified to hold the x planes in the bomb bay area, after they took ownership of it they removed the whole bomb bay section from another China Lake B29 that was used to return Fertile Mertyl back to a standard B29.Alot of work was done on this a/c but on a very limited budget,it was too bad that the choice was made to dismantle it and ship it rather than make the repairs to make it airworthy. With all the bad news from storm after storm, the damage done to the collection from before, lets hope that it will get its turn to fly again!Until then its stored with 2 other B29s recovered from China Lake by Kemit at Carl and Tonys remote desert facility. It would be great to see her fly again but who knows? Thanks Mike

I would love to see photos of them in storage there.
