I had the pleasure of meetin Iren Dornier, pilot, operator, Grandson and namesake aboard this Do24ATT at Biggin Hill this ast weekend. For the full info, go to: http://www.do-24.com/ He's on his way around the world - due Toronto and New York sometime soon!

It's the only amphibious Dornier 24; the others were pure flying boats.

Feet wet - dry - wet - dry....

Is this Dornier a new-built or a conversion? I seem to remember reading something about an amphibious turboproped version going into production. Of course I've slept since then :wink:

I couldn't get the link previously mentioned to work....or I was impatient,
after 10 minutes I had a blank page and my "blue load thingy" wasn't moving....so..

If I remember correctly, it's an original Do-24 that was "cashed out" of the Spanish military in the late 60's and later modified to amphibious and
turboprops..amongst other mods.

Back in the 70s, Dornier took an ex-Spanish Do24 and rebuilt it as a proof of concept amphibian with undercarriage, new high lift wing and turboprop engines. The company went bust, I believe, partly as a result of this project. The a/c was in the Dornier museum, until Iren fished it out for this round the world trip.
