Gentlemen:

I was reading earlier posts, and I have to hand it to Mr Rohr for not being afraid of confronting the feds for their waste and abuse.. In spite of being confronted by other users of this board.

I saw a lot of responses that went something like "You're going to ruin the warbird movement", and other responses. I even say a person quoting scriptural references. Not necessary in this situation, you shouldn't be afraid to use your freedom of speech as long as it is truthful and is not defaming others...

In addition, in response to the T-6 buzzing the lake at 10-15' being reported in the news. Someone made the claim that "This is strctly against the FARS". Not true, technically over an unpopulated area, the restriction 500 feet directly over any structure and 1000 feet horizontal distance does not apply. If you are zealot, but do not know for sure, keep a tight upper lip...

Sincerely,

Chris

Not to get into a pissing contest but you should re-read FAR 91.119c. heck I'll even paste it in here for you:

(c) Over other than congested areas. An altitude of 500 feet above the surface, except over open water or sparsely populated areas. In those cases, the aircraft may not be operated closer than 500 feet to any person, vessel, vehicle, or structure.

Now what do you think??? 10-15 Feet above the canoe sure sounds like he was closer than 500 feet.

Col Rohr should be heavily sedated -with Thorazine, I would suggest- then taken to a distant island, and tortured with all the female companionship that he can manage, but with NO CAMERA to record the proceedings!!! :D

Saludos, Rob!!!

Someone quoted the FAR back to me, and so a lake is not open water?
So 1000 ft horiz and 500ft as I said applies..

I guess I misread the report, I understood it as 10-20 ft above the water. I don't have any qualms about buzzing the water, or anything else over an ubinhabited area that is not a structure, or a person..Just watch out for power lines...
