Downunder et al--
Did some more thinking...this Tiffy replica idea is a very interesting one. The question of construction would probably be simple enough to solve; just adapt the principles of the Jurca MJ.100 "Spitfire" design to the Typhoon outline and voila. (Well, of course it wouldn't be quite THAT easy)...But, how to power such an airframe?? Here are a few ideas:
(Fullsize airframe)
Allison V1710
RR Griffon
RR Meteor (tank engine; cousin to the Merlin)
Falconer V12 (or two of them as an X24)
2xFerrari 512T (as an H24)
2xRanger V770 (as an X24)
4xLycoming O-320 (as an H24)
4xPorsche 911 (as an H24)
UACL PT6A
UACL PW120
(Scaled airframe)
2xPorsche 911 (as an H12)
Ranger V770
Ranger L440
4xContinental C65/C85 (as an H16)
...Just as with the WWI replicas with their Warner or M14P radials instead of rotaries, or the Ford V6 originally installed in GWFM's SE5a, if the "look" and "feel" is what one is after...one can use whatever can be made to work to power a neo-Tiffy into the air. What a fun thread!
