I ran across this photo over on the "Hanger Flying" model aircraft forum as a "Caption This Photo" posting.

Does anyone know what they have done with the remains of the lodestar? And does anyone have a contact name or number ,for who would know what they are going to do with it?

Co-Pilot gets it all cross controlled on take-off, looks over at Pilot and says, "your plane"!

Fortunately the crew were not killed but the aircraft was a complete write off. Your joke is in very bad taste.

To paraphrase Prof. Farnsworth, I hate to sound like a broken MP3, but all the facts regarding this incident are not in yet. Let's let the investigators do their job before we go speculating

I don't think so, what has happened has happened. Not joking about it won't change a thing, and no one was killed. So joke away, and toughen up the skin...

Where is that guy with his hands in his pockets standing in relation to the runway? It almost looks as if he was standing ON the runway to me.

Is this a "lets show off" take off gone wrong? An imitation of someone who really knows what they are doing (but does it in a fighter)

The guy in the picture is on the ramp on this side of the taxiway. The airplane has already departed the runway at this point. You can see the runway behind the plane. The quartering tailwind has helped move it that direction. It was not a show-off take-off, just poor planning and poor reactions to that.

Despite many admonitions to the contrary, more speculation. Here are two facts, that cannot be refuted:

The airplane was airborne.

The ailerons are hard left but the rudder is neutral. Not what I would have expected given the attitude of the airplane. Hard to even guess, let alone speculate, but certainly a better place to start than this red herring about wind.

I was there and I can tell you the wind was negligible. I took off soon after the airport reopened on runway 10, and wind velocity was simply not enough to be a major factor. There has to be a more credible explanation. Whether we will read about it is still to be seen.
