She will be flown rough at first, with touch-up paint where needed.
A bunch of GCW members love the "100 mission" look!
Never say never, BUT SHE WILL NEVER BE ALL SHINY!!! :D

We CANNOT slow down the return to flight ops. to install the top turret innards at this time. But we will in the future.

Gotta go take an official work break.

N3N-3 Jeff... Will call when the big push, engine hanging party comes.

Please do!!!! I was going to offer my help when 909 broke a master rod in BTV a few yrs ago but I had to work those days. I got weekends off now.
Will do whatever to help out, TR has been my fav B-17 for yrs.

I've just been checking on airline deals for the last weekend in April 08 for the show in Galveston. Be afraid, be very afraid ~ I just might be coming back !

God speed all who are offering to go out and make this bird finally FLY !

I know that she is at hobby, I attended FS for a Avionics training in 2000. I remember seeing her outside in the cradle. Wont be a problem, we would rent a car to get us there. Would be a fun trip, Not to mention a good excuse to have a Long Island Ice Tea at the Saltgrass down the road!

Or a cold one at the Airport Lounge and a FEDX for lunch.:)

N3N-3 Jeff,
OK... using some of this Critical Path Management business.
It would make the most sense to have you and your friends come down to help with:
a.the engine hanging,
b.propellor hanging and/or
c.the outer wing panel hanging.

I'm not going to even guess at dates on that yet, because that is not my yob man... And I'm trying to not irritate the elders! :axe:
Elders are funny that way!

I am going out 10/27/07 and will confer with them that know and get back with you.

Lynn... you da bomb!!! 8)

Well don, I got 3 guys that are willing to go pending dates. Would love to help with all 3. Last wing hanging I did was a C-47. I alone spent a couple of days NDT the attach angles. Cant wait, I do need some round therapy!!!!!

Also N3N-3 Jeff the airplane is at Hobby, not IAH, but if IAH works for you and your compatriots (through any kind of airline deals that save you cash) I will gladly drag my posterior out of bed and come get y'all and drive you where you need to be.

16,528 Seahorse Ln.

Is that the street addy or a check amount???

Lynn... 16,528 is BOTH!!!

For y'all photo phreaks...
Here's what Jeff Hagen from LSFM and I did for fun on a perfectly beautiful Sat. aft.
We installed the bracket that holds the pre-oiler to the #2 firewall.
I got the most delightful lecture on why bolts go "To the back, down or inboard," and why it really matters which way a flat washer goes on.
Fortunately I was putting the washers on correctly, but it's only 'cause my Mama raised me right! :D
More photos on the way.

You simply MUST stop by the next time you are making all that infernal racket! I think I heard you, because there was one or two times when ALL conversation stopped until the dBs went back down to a dull roar.

B17 Progress report with pictures on its way, as soon as Walgreens gets my pics developed. I'm SO 90's!

The Battle of the Flap Transmissions
We were about to have REAL PROBLEMS with a couple of the flap transmissions so ALL of them are coming out for rebuild, repaint, inspection, Yellow Tag A&P approval and re-installation.
For your enjoyment...

LSFMers working on the pre-oiler on Engine #2 nacelle.
OK... it's partially staged, but I did give them money and worked their airshows a time or two. So I earned the T-shirt the hard way. That is Jeff a real LSFM Vol crossing the great divide!
