If you are interested in having a project for playing with WWII aircraft, and have a small budget (like me) here is the thing for you. These are new condition WWII Lawrance Auxiliary Power Units (APU). Lawrance was in the aircraft engine business and specialized in making these things prior to and during WWII. This particular model is the US Navy Model 1A, or Lawrance model 30D, and was a predecessor of the V32 which was commonly used after WWII. The USAAF had a standard version of this called the D2, also known as the Andover APU. Several other companies made these, including Ranger. These are POSSIBLY new in the crates, still wrapped in celluloid with dessicant, and include the original installation, operations and maintenance manual, spare parts (mostly gaskets and hoses), and a set of spark plugs. This particular APU would have been installed in PB4Y-1 aircraft, is listed in the Martin PBM-3 manual I have (it was replaced by the V32 in later models). The condition is good, turning freely, but needing corrosion control on most pieces. To complete this, you will need a 24 Volt aircraft generator, an oil cooler (which I can probably provide for you, or you can make from a transmission cooler), and some AN hardware. I can help you find the AN hardware, have an oil cooler in stock which MAY be useable for this, and can help find you a generator- I might have some in stock that are suitable, but have to do some reading on what we have in stock. It is definitely doable by the backyard crew chief, and if you wreck it, I guarantee the FAA won't come after you and we won't make fun of you here on the WIX board. At least not too much anyway...

I have 15 photos shown here and if any one has any questions, please PM or email me. Price is $1000.00 plus shipping but I will entertain interesting long term financing agreements which involve Grumman Duck parts as partial trade.
