What were you doing during the great Flypast crash of 2004?

a) getting your sleeping bag and themos of coffee and moving to the Anderson shelter till it 'all blows over?'

b) Braving it out at home.. And rediscovering the art of communication with your other half?

c) Tentatively re-visiting forum.keypublishing.co.uk every couple of hourd or so.. Hoping you will see some signs of life??

d) Discovering there is a life other than the PC?? Maybe visiting a museum to get real warbirds??

f) sighting through piles of printouts and clippings and put them in folders

g) spending some greenbacks on ebay for photographs and books

h) reading through newly arrived 479th FG history (Schiffer)

Apart from being on this forum, the only one in my eyes, I spent my time, sitting in various bars in Wanchai, Hong Kong perusing the scenery, and considering what care packages we could prescribe for those poor FP refugees.

Unlike the rest of you guys, we don't have any warbirds in Hong Kong, although the weather is nice, 23 deg C (73.4F) at the moment , sun is shining, and I'm going back to the pub.

Well I have been doing not alot since flypast went down, just spending a day at Waddo, doing some Xmas shopping, watching loads of football, clearing some room for my Amiga what is now on the way to me, chilling out and getting pissed.

Oh yeah did I forget to mention I also did some work.

Is that the *really* thick one that just came out a few months ago? I'm currently assigned to the 479th and the author of that book visited us last year and gave a big presentation on what he'd uncovered during his research for the book...very interesting stuff. We also had Kyle Riddle, Robin Olds, Rich Candelaria, and a host of other 479th greats on hand for the event.

My productivity went up, so I thought I'd come here before it was noticed Oh and I was bored with PPRuNe.

I chose the new name because I was caught on film during some C47 work that's been taking up my spare time...

I did one copy and it ended up going to Kev with an original wellington raising project fundraising book that I found on ebay. I'll do a copy for you and one for myself and then get the tape back to you. Thanks for lending it to me.

I guess you're too young to remember "Protect & Survive" Andrew.

I took an urge to replace the cooker in our kitchen since we have 18 coming for lunch on Christmas Day and the old one didn't look like it would cope. Thought it would be as simple as removing the old one and popping a new one in its place. Nope! Silly me, has now turned into a major project with plaster coming off the walls, new bits of wooden floor having to be laid, a plumber having to come to move a central heating pipe (job stopper at the moment), additional tiling to be done and then of course there will be the painting to finish it off.

How many days until Christmas?

Just done a yahoo search about this Protect & Survive", not sure if the advice in their could help one survive a nuke attack.

That reminds me anyone else see a program on UK Horizons about the aftermath of a nuke attack, it was set in the early 80s and had some F4's in it bloody good it was to.

Phew. I feel better for that.

To be honest, I tend not to get to visit the forums as much as I used to. Work's getting busier, home's getting busier, and Christmas is on it's way. Aviation is having to take a back seat. Can you believe I spent the whole of Saturday helping stick the Christmas decorations up round at my other half's place, including bolting a six foot tall singing Santa to the ground outside her front door?

Roll on summer, I need to see old aeroplanes puttering around again...

could you get me in contact with the author ? - I have a few questions re. those 479th FG Mustangs that eventually served with the Swiss AF 1948 - 1958.
