According to my source, that is CHUG-A-LUG which went down on its 33rd mission to Hamburg on Dec 6,44. Piloted by Levitoff, it crashed near Rotenburg, with 2KIA, 7POW

Spanner,
Yes, it would be summer of '44. Chug was accepted by AAF at Cheyenne in Feb of 44. ( The Cheyenne turret wasn't installed on production Gs until summer 44). It arrived at Ridgewell in April 44.
During its last mission, it was flying wing on the Mickey ship when Chug was hit by Flak in the #3 engine. It jettisoned its bomb load and unfortunately, the rear elements thought this was the release signal, so many dropped their bombs short of the target.
