Just finished reading Jonna Doolittle Hoppes book "Calculated Risk" Fantastic book by the way. Left me wondering what happened to the Shell B-25? From what I can find out online, the N# is NL2424 and the SN is 45-8830. Any one have more info? there was a comment about it going to the Chinese but not sure why that would happen.

For what it's worth, I have a bit of information on NL2424. This is the airplane with which Shell Oil Co. processed the Limited Type Certificate (AL-2) that was approved in December 1946. It was used or to be used as a flying laboratory by Shell. The airplane reportedly went to the Babb Co. in 1949, and then exported to China in 1951. Here is the info off the FAA Registry site, clearly showing the airplane being exported to China, no doubt Nationalist China (Taiwan). Nothing further is known.

Thanks for the info. I'm getting in touch with my buddy in China.

There are a few pictures of it here at the USAF Library:
