This is the place where the majority of the warbird (aircraft that have survived military service) discussions will take place. Specialized forums may be added in the new future

Hey gang,
Just happened to notice an update on Vintage Aircraft Company's Facebook page (
http://www.facebook.com/pages/Sonoma-CA ... 9198558905) that they just brought 'home' a Grumman F3F-2 to Schellville, CA yesterday? I am guessing this is one of the Tischler reproductions... but where is it from? Any idea what Chris and the gang have in store for it?
By the way, any word as to when Chris will begin offering rides in the TP-40N?

She was under 6 ft of saltwater last year. We flushed her heavily with fresh water, opened panels and inspection ports, and ( choke ) razor bladed the fabric on the lower wing. Then we soaked her as best we could with Corrosion X. We noticed some foamy looking stuff seeping out around the hubcaps so we popped them and found that the wheels, being magnesium were reacting to the saltwater rather quickly ! We flushed them and soaked them with CX, there was some light pitting, hopefully we stopped the reaction from destroying the wheels. We drained about 5 gallons of water from the engine. Hate to see it leave LSFM but glad it will be a regular flyer again.

Good to hear she will fly again. Have to have something to vanquish the faux Zero's at airshows!
The conventional wisdom among Wildcat pilots was, “If you’re alone and you meet a lone Zero, run like hell–you’re outnumbered!”

F3F, not F4F.
F3Fs never saw combat, let alone fought Zeros

Doh!
Right, F3F! Very short service life, came out the same year as the bf 109. I know which one I would pick in combat (I Know, not fair, as the 109 was not navalized until much later, then not used a such)
