I'm not an expert on anything but I've spoke to one of the guy's in ff not to long ago at the ww1 airshow and I asked if the Ju52 would fit in the Cottbus hanger and the answer I got was they aren't sure it will fit. As I said that could be hear say but I wondered that looking at the wingspan of the Ju52 vs the hanger door width. But with that being said, I am in the crowd that I'd love to see both Chuckie and the JU52 inside. And from what I can tell, Jerry is building a great place and I would venture to think that there maybe plans in order for that already. And I can only say this for myself but I love his place and collection, and I am grateful he shares it with us. Just my 2 cents.

P.S. It seems Viringia Beach will soon be the place for WW2 German aviation, once the 109's are finished up.

You might be right Travis, but if so, that just means they would have to juggle -- put some fighters in the German hangar and the bombers in one of the main hangars. There's a PBY in one of them now, it has a slightly greater span than Chuckie so both Chuckie and the 52 ought to fit.

I took this one early in summer while flying over it, I used to shoot landings there many years ago when it was a duster and banner tow strip but have never been there since it became a museum.

Nice aerial shot! The German hangar is now on the furthest light patch of ground at far left next to the red hangar, which is where maintenance is carried out. On the nearer patch of ground a shop/shed type building is being erected. I understand that Fighter Factory will be moving to this site as Mr Yagen consolidates his aviation assets on this field.

Thanks alot for the shots! These are exactly what I was looking for!

Judging just by the average size of the hangar, it looks like the JU-52 could fit in it. So are those three buildings storage then?

I visited the museum last November, and was very impressed, both with the aircraft collection and the smooth operation of the museum. One very pleasant surprise was finding the Sopwith Pup replica built by one of my dad's friends from EAA Chapter 68.

The other highlight is the museum's collection of Soviet aircraft, something we don't get to see every day. Here's a shot of the I-16 cockpit:

The main winding was of the normal lotus-o deltoid type placed in panendermic semi-bolloid slots of the stator. Every seventh conductor being connected by a non-reversible tremmy pipe to the differential girdle spring on the up-end of the grammeters. Moreover, whenever fluorescent square motion is required, it may also be employed in conjunction with the drawn reciprocation dingle arm, to reduce sinusoidal depleneration.

soo much to say about what we have hidden away and in other countries but really cant. i can say a few things about what is here and buildings etc etc. The B-17 is on schedule to come in during the winter and have maint performed so it seems the winter inside. the Ju can fit inside the german hangar, if we take off all the masts on top.. move the middle prop as it comes in and put it on rollers to get it in the door sideways... and with that nothing else will really fit inside with it other then a couple small planes. In the works are 2 more big hangars like the 2 the museum uses to house further expansion of the collection and get the 17 a home when its not in maint or at a show. i can see what i can do about getting pics of the ski's on the poly next week if anyone is interested, no i cant get pics of what else we have inside that building. the D9 is awaiting an engine to be found and rebuilt and off to germany it goes to get re-engined. the mig 3 is in suffolk and is being worked into our schedule to get airworthy but it does have issues with the landing gear, the plane is partially wood. soon to come over to museum will be the PO-2(small bugs to work out) and then maybe the 262(we are hoping not but....). the yak 3, from what i was told, was built in russia from original dies etc etc by yakolev... who had everything to stamp out parts and did a run? but thats all i know so i wouldnt really call it a replica imo. the spad project, hmm ill keep my mouth shut on what i think of this one but im not sure we will get it anytime soon.... how do i know, i delivered it personally in a truck to the shop in NH. control tower, it might have been taken down nicely but it wasnt pack as such and resembles nothing but a pile of rocks with some windows put on top, again only what ive heard from people who have seen it first hand... so it might be awhile. Any other questions i can answer or sidestep and not? i havent signed any sort of confidentiality agreement, but i dont want to have a talk in the bosses office any morning either so im limited by what i can say.

The Docents were just informed that the D9 is being assembled for static display and will be moved over to the Cottbus hanger once its ready.
