I've been in contact with James Stemm from Pima about a PBY hulk they currently have sitting in there storage yard. Management has no further need for it, and I've been informed that if no interested party comes forward in the next month or so to save the fuselage, then it will be scrapped.

I was trying to generate interest at our own museum, but unfortunately our current commitments and projects are just too great for us to add on another project such as this. Which is a real shame because I see such potential in this airframe.

So if you or anyone you know may be interested in saving this WWII airframe before its gone forever, please contact James at: jstemm@pimaair.org

Do we know what the BUNO is? Wondering if it has any USCG time.

Selling it? or giving it away?

Find out some specifics like John stated above. Find a home for it and I'll help get it there.

Should be saved.

After talking with James, it sounds like if you can take it away, its yours.

It is former RCAF Canso A. After being declared surplus it was acquired by an Ontario farmer George Ventress, one of several he had, and it sat on his farm at Brighton, ON. Years later, it was stored in a barn at Geneseo, NY before going to Pima. It was either s/n 9829 or 9839 - possibly the latter but not 100% sure. Both were with Ventress. I hope someone rescues it.

Good news.

Thanks David for the info on the history. We're always looking around for former CG aircraft.

Funny! why were the main gear wheel wells faired over? First variant look alike? AKA non amphibious.

Cheers!

Edit!!! Was it ever used as a modified boat only??

In the background of 2nd photo is another PBY. It’s red and has N number of N322FA, a Consolidated- Vultee,28-5ACF, per FAA search.

As I have mentioned previously, the museum has several PBY fuselage sections in their storage yard.
I wonder what will become of them?
Likely too far gone...or too incomplete...for a flyer, but maybe good bits for a static or to repair a damaged ship.
