Great photos, Al! Hopefully I will be able to make the trek from Seattle to Oshkosh next year!

That looks almost like some kind of jettison device on the tanks of Twilight Tear... Anybody know anything about them?

They are M-10 aircraft smoke tanks for laying smoke.

They were used to lay a smoke screen or could also be used for tear gas.

The tanks do not related to the name Twilight Tear. The aircraft was named after a race horse.

"Twilight Tear" was a hall of fame racehorse and was named horse of the year in 1944.

So these are what are often referred to as "Chemical Tanks", correct? Having covered the P-51D in detail, the payload arming/activating controls are marked for instructing on use with either chemical tanks or drop tanks, and I believe, if I recall correctly, there are special connections for the chemical tanks under the wings. Despite this, I don't believe I have ever seen those tanks before, so it is nice to learn more by seeing them recreated and displayed with this restoration.

Also, it is terrific to see the paint-work so accurately reproduced!

There's a -4 Corsair here that I do not recognize.....it is painted with a bu# of 82050? It is not listed in the registry either. I just got here late this eve and was doing a quick walk thru, so I didn't note the n number or other reference yet. Mr. Tobul's Corsair was also there and looked FANTASTIC too!

Any ideas on 82050's history?

The Corsair is N240CF, 97359, F4U-4B in a new Korean War Scheme.
