Princess was originally built up around a B model wing recovered in Israel. The fuselage was modified from a D but has since been reworked to B/C specs.. As far as Betty Jane...it walks like a duck and flies like duck...it @#$@ well is a duck. Muzala has another B/C in the works as well. Keep it up Austin!

Yep, and as seen on their webpage here ("Berlin Express"): http://www.pacificfighters.net/

Can't wait to see it when it is finished (accurate/authentic Malcom hood and all)!

Also, this CAF Oklahoma Wing news letter from 2008 (that I originally found while searching the internet for some research on the P-51B/C a few years ago), mentions of another P-51B/C project in the making, for Dr. Brent Hisey (owner of "Miss America"), that if it is still continuing as planned, will be finished as "Patty Ann II" of the 352nd FG (you have to page/scroll through the news letter a bit to find the full article about it): http://www.contrails.us/oklahoma_wing/4 ... letter.pdf

Very Not True!

I took care of her the couple of years we had her.
Wing was B/C as recovered from Israel.
Tail cone was original B/C from one damaged in a ground loop at Torrance Calif in the late 50s or early 60s.
Not much difference between tail feathers for each model. Later D units have improvements in strength so those are installed. Even many B/C airframes had the dorsal fin installed as did the D model.
Firewall forward share many parts between B/C and D/K. PE had early upper cowl in which the oil door was smaller as the B/C didn't have the dipstick the later D/K had. The access door was larger to allow access to the dipstick.
That leaves the fus. It was modified from a D. The majority of the structure from the longerons down is the same. The important locations to bolt to the wings and to the engine are the same as is the radiator mounting.
When the fus was built by Pete Regina and rebuilt by John Muszala it became a combination of B and D parts to make it easier to get it done.

Wow...ok...so....as opposed to the number of P-40's with shark mouths on the front of them, the incredible number of Mustangs out there with blue noses on them, the load of Corsairs with VF-17 markings on them.....and two flying RED TAIL P-51's and you think it's being overdone. Still care to stick with that statement?

Cool project and good luck. I will check back for updates. I want to build a 80% scale replica mosquito or p-47 if I ever win the lottery.

Today I presented the story of Leland Pennington and "Lucy Gal" to the Rochester CSD "Safe to be Smart" program. This enrichment program took place at the Sully Branch Library in down-town Rochester, NY (about 30 mins. from Geneseo.) Check it out!

I believe Wes Stricker's D model is in Red Tail colors.
How many does that make?
