Find a US Air Force recruiter in your local area, you can find them in the phone book.... they will help you pick your job, all pay is based on rank not job. If you go to college you can become an officer, picking your job is harder to do.

Try these links out:

good luck!

If you love airplanes and like working on them be a crew chief or specialist. The only thing is ground crews (depending on the base and such) usuually don't make rank like the other sections and we worked in ALL the weather environments. I STILL wouldn't change it for the world though, after 27 years I busted my butt working BUT enjoyed all of it.

Had a good friend who went AF ROTC back in the 70's. Following college got his wings, flew T-33's as agressor. With his wife, also a ROTC grad, stationed at Wright-Pat for R&D projects. This led to a career with NASA involving manned spaceflight. Check it out:

Ditto what Mudge the regretful says.

Nothing against enlisting but, my recommendation would be to go in as an officer and that means college. My roommate from Officer Training School way back in 1982 would tell you the same. He was prior-enlisted, went through OTS, and retired last year as a bird Colonel with 33 years, ten months service.

Three ways of becoming an officer. Apply to one of the military academys, ROTC at a college offering that program, or applying for OTS after you graduate.

Best wishes to you and "Thank You" for contemplating serving your country and all of us.

100% agree with Mudge-get ya sum edjamakashon, get into ROTC in college, get some tin on your shoulders geek get into something that can translate directly into a good civilian job, not a lot of call out there for bomb loaders in the civilian world.

And welcome to the WIX :supz: You can learn a great deal by just monitoring the banter that goes on here, learn how to interpret it and balance what the end product decision is against what your goals and expectations might be. You come across as a forward thinking, level headed individual-best of luck pal!
