Looking for a replacement for the old (and now extinct) metal gaskets used for sealing the old pneumatic water traps. They are inevitably damaged in the dissassembly process, and replacement gaskets are not available. Anyone know of any suitable modern/readily available gasket solution which may be used as an alternative?

Any ideas most welcome!

Thanks,

Phil

I user commercially available teflon chevron seals when overhauling the pneumatic radiator door actuators on a Mk 19 Spitfire. Most industrial products catalogs carry them. I don't know if the water traps use the same seal configuration. Temps in the pneumatic system are not generally a problem so teflon seems to be a good substitute for metal or organic sealing materials from the 1940's.
