I haven't had the time to watch the news, regarding the rocket attack on the USN ship or ships in Jordan. I am not aware of casualties, and I pray that eveyone there is fine.

Briefly, I caught a glimpse of either a DC-3 or a C-47 in the background of one of the scenes.

Has anyone seen it, too?

Saludos,

Tulio

No one hurt Tulio, at least no American casulties. The rockets/mortars overshot the ships and they left port. Apparently they hit a warehouse and a couple of other structures.

Tulio is always on the lookout for warbirds...."DC-3/C-47 in the background". I've got to give him credit, I didn't see them but I might be doing the same thing. Of course it might be another Pearl Harbor but be on the lookout for warbirds....."Always Vigil".

By the way an after thought. Didn't we learn anything from the Cole attack? What about the "CIWS" systems on board these vessels. I guess
Jordan is suppose to be a friendly port. They should have at least went off and shot down something.......

I got the impression these ships were tied up at the dock, not anchored up in the harbor .

I doubt the CIWS will do anything against a RPG!

They were tied up to the dock, at least one of them, what looked like a LSD. But that shouldn't matter with the weapons systems. Besides I think these rockets were reported as something more than sofisticated(?) a RPG.

Tom, that is how I spot aircraft in locations out of the beaten path; my mind's eye is, let's say it this way, "trained" and I can make out an airplane shape out of a jumble of parts and junk, and that prompts a closer look and inspection.

If I could only remember the exact locations later on . .. : ) (I know, I have logs, but I don't carry them with me all the time).

Saludos,

Tulio
