Today, at the Eagle Creek Airpark (West of Indianapolis) saw this BT-15.

The owner was really nice, invited me to come in, and shoot my pix; his name is Jason Sharkey, and says he has had this BT-15 for about 3 or 4 months.

Everything in this airplane is original according to him, including instruments, panels, radios, and says no parts were removed at any time from it. He has all the paperwork going back to the bill of sale from Vultee to the USAAC.

This is one of only 15 built in Nashville, TN

Could you send me those files for my BT-13 website? Of course, your credits would be painted all over them!

Thanks!

Paul:

We can do this:

You can either copy the photos from here, or I can send you a larger image. I have not forgotten my offering to you, of BT-13 pictures, it is just a matter of re-sizing them, since each one is 24Mb and I cannot send them via e-mail.

Please let me know what you want me to do, and I could even copy the photos to a CD and send it to you.

Saludos,

Tulio

This BT looks very familiar... A quick check of my photos show I photographed this BT at Anoka in May of 2003. If my memory hasn't failed me the owner at the time said the restoration had just been completed at Anoka(maybe another MN WIXer can confirm this?).

Thanks for sharing the photos, it looks like the BT is very well taken care of.

Paul,

Perhaps this may sound on the surface a silly quesion, but how do you tell the difference between a BT-13 and BT-15 ???

BT-13 has the P&W R-985, BT-15 had the Wright R-975.

However, I know of at least one BT-15 that has a P&W engine now, probably due to the relative rarity of the R-975.

Cool...

Thanks Jase for the info. I can well understand why the R-975 is a rather rarety in todays world. But the R-985 is still a fairly well used staple of smaller round engines in use today.

I believe the engine mount on a BT-15 is somewhat longer which exposes more of the stainless steel shroud at the rear extreme of the ring cowl.....Tom

Paul,

I have already selected all the BT-13 / 15 / SNV photos that I have, and will burn them to a CD later tonight and then mail it to you tomorrow.

Since you live in Blaine, may I suggest that you try to hook up with Jim or Pat Harker? He has a hangarful of BT-13 parts at Anoka, and this would be right down your area of interest, right? C&P Aviation, that's where you'll find them.

Tulio

I see you fell in love with the BT-13s and maybe even having dreams with them. How about some from our land?
Another diference with BT-13 BT-15 is the intake on the left cowl.
