Hello, I'm currently writing a Master's thesis on the USS Sable and USS Wolverine and I've seen a couple of users post that they had copies of either their own or a relative's pilot log books that mention their time training on the two ships. I was wondering if it would be possible to post that information here somehow? Or contact me to get my contact information. Also, all of the pictures from the original posts are unavailable as of right now and I was wondering if there is a way to re-post them for viewers who are late to the conversation. Thank you very much!
Cheers,
smswiere

Sh*t!!! I thought I restored the photos to this thread. Here's all the photos I stored in this flickr album.

I also have my dad's logbook entries for his CL's #1 thru 8" (that's all they allotted) on the USS Wolverine. I'll try to post them later today for you.

Best of luck on your thesis and make sure you "get it right" lol

Mark

Thank you!
Lol, we always try to get it "right" but 'right' for some isn't always 'right' for others.... That being said, I want my thesis to have accurate information and to have authentic primary sources, like your dad's log book and photos from the time period. :)
Again, thank you!
Sincerely,
smswiere

Ha! you got that right my friend. Remember with history there's only one 'right', but unfortunately when greed, fame and fortune are involved, that 'right' can be twisted in many directions with the outcome fabricated so far out in left field that the real truth is buried, and people are stuck believing something that isn't true. Happens everyday. Fortunately for you your thesis is directed at a subject that has a pretty clear history path. And you happen to come across this forum that so happens to have some real smart folks when it comes to this type of history. All the best to you.

This is a page from dad's logbook showing his USS Wolverine training. Not much there, but not much needed back then. No time to hang out too long as these pilots were quickly trained and shipped out to the carriers in the Pacific. Dad's name was Ens. James E. Mansfield

Hope this helps.

Hello again! I'm almost done with my thesis that I mentioned a few years ago. Would it be possible to post the flickr album one more time along with your dad's logbook? My hard drive crashed last year so I lost a lot of pictures that I had previously saved and I'm finally to the adding picture stage.

Thank you,
smswiere

If you could send me the link as well I'll see what I can do about restoring this thread. Thanks.
