Are there any known photos of Doc (or any of its fellow "dwarves") during its Air Force service?

We have acquired pictures of all 7 dwarves and Snow White with their original nose art. A few months ago a previously unknown 9th member of the squadron was discovered, the "Wicked Witch". I don't have digital copies of the pictures and for some of them the quality is lacking, but we do have them!

Any idea where the gun turrets will come from...?

Wonderful progress! The photos have that ghostly look to them, like she's eager to rumble down a runway again

Fantastic. Simply fan-damn-tastic! Just when we see a huge warbird story that can't seemingly be topped, like a Mosquito returning to flight or a pair of F-82s working their way towards flight, along comes another huge (literally) story like the worlds airworthy B-29 population being doubled. Awesome!

Correct me if I am wrong - I thought "Doc" was a 'B' model and therefore did not have turrets . . .

Tom-

Doc is a Boeing Wichita B-29, all of the B-29B's were built by Bell in Georgia. Doc originally had turrets but they were removed at some point, likely when he joined the Radar calibration squadron and was christened "Doc".

In other news, I was at the SAS museum in Ashland Nebraska yesterday, mostly for fun, but partially to get some good pics of their B-29 (which is a B model). Great museum, well worth the trip, especially if you have a thing for bombers.

I had stopped by to see that museum and the B-29 was being repainted in a section of the building and was "top secret"according to the people working there. I was looking forward to seeing it but i will just have to go back someday.
