Hi Jim,

Thanks for the interest.
I never had the pleasure of meeting Don. I did know Bernie, and saw her many times through Collingwood (now Edenvale) Classic Aircraft Foundation.
I learned to fly tailwheel on the Fleet Canuck that she covered and stiched :D .
I will make sure to ask Wat about that Tiger on floats. Did you ever see it completed, or better yet, get some pictures?
I think that it was Don and Bernie that brought Tiger moth C-GSTP from out west to Collingwood.
Bernie definitely was an interesting lady.

Andy

Hi Andy,
In the photo below is the Tiger on floats. The registration as far as I can tell is C-GDMI (or DWI?). Also there is a picture of Don and of their Champ, both taken at Collingwood. I believe that Don mailed me the photo of the Tiger.

I don't see any image Jim.

I did type C-GDWI into Google and it turned up a Canadian Tiger that is currently in residence at the Alberta aviation museum. I'm pretty sure that's at the Edmonton municipal airport which is slated for closure soon. (the airport, not the museum, yet!)

Hi Andy
Quick question. What prop do you have on your Tiger Moth? I have just been finding out info on my overhauled wooden prop I bought for the Auster. It's an Airscrew 8010 which was used by quite a few types including the Auster and Tiger Moth. Quite a big prop at 6.84 feet! Fine pitch at 3.53".
Mine was used on either a Mk6 or 7 Auster while with the RHKAAF (Royal Hong Kong Auxiliary Air Force) in the 50s/60s.

Wow!
Nice looking prop Baz.
My Tiger came with a Hoffmann climb prop. This was from when she was used as a banner tow and glider tug.
We put a few hours on with that prop and it felt like we were stuck in second gear.
We switched to a prop that was manufactured in Canada for 82C's built at Downsview.
It's a Granby, they are fairly common here in Canada. It makes for much better performance.

With this thread back from antiquity I have to take the opportunity to post my favourite shot by Airic Dumigan.
It's from Geneseo 2014. Two fine looking de Havillands!
