NC 1776 still exists in restored condition at the North Carolina Aviation Museum in Asheboro, NC. The plane was restored by Dave Henderson, then of Felton, DE, in the late 1980's. The restoration is very original and complete for a pre-war J3F-65.

Can someone repost the images in the original post? The links are now dead, and I can only find one of the three on the Wayback Machine.

Alternatively, does anyone know where the original documents came from?
