The ex French Air Force Skyraider that has been at the SAAF Museum for many years has been acquired by Springbok Aviation at Rand Airport Germiston (Johannesburg) for possible restoration

I've seen much less than THAT turned into a beautiful, flyable airplane. Good luck to them on this project!

It is BuNo 127 894
It was acquired by the SAAF Museum around 30 years ago in exchange for 2 Harvards of which the SAAF had plenty. At the time it was so to say airworthy so the damage and decay that it now has is from poor storage conditions over the years. Its acquisition created some controversy because it was said that the SAAF Museums mandate was to preserve aircraft that the SAAF operated as well as aircraft the SAAF fought against of which the Skyraider was neither.

Thus the Skyraider has been unloved by the Museum for many years but at the same time no one seemingly willing to take a decision to part with it either.

I dont know any details of what deal was finally made to acquire it however this was many years overdue. Springbok Aviation have restored C-47 Daks before as well as the Catalina N427CV which was restored and flown to the USA in Jan 2013. For sure its going to need plenty $$ and a sponsor to get it back in the air again but all the major components are available and the owner of Springbok Aviation, Flippie Vermeulen, has the type of determination to make it happen.

We've got a lot of spare Skyraider parts when they start needing them!

I don't think very many people knew about this one. First picture or news I've heard of it's existence. 2) What a beautiful wreck! Not too many Iconic aircraft laying around unrestored like that and in private hands.
