David McCullough's new book

Tue Apr 21, 2015 10:16 am

For those of you that enjoy books by David McCullough, his new one to be released on May 5th is titled The Wright Brothers. David McCullough is a superb author and if this new book is as good as all the rest of his books, it will be a most enjoyable read. I'm looking froward to it with great anticipation.

It will be tough to beat Crouch's biography...and if you're interested in the technical details of the Wright's work, the Gates book.

Generally I find aviation books by non-aviation people a mixed bag, good on narrative and occasionally personal stories, but superficial treatment of technical aspects. And remember, the nature of their work was technical as opposed to many biography subjects.
McCullough is fine at lionizing PC politicians...I'm not sure how he'll do here (at least to the technical audience).
I'm sure it will bring the Wright's story to a larger audience, which is a very good thing.

Thanks for the info, I might have to pick up a copy. I am finishing up his book on John Adams now.

The John Adams book is a great read. My favorite by him his Truman. Probably the best book I have ever read.

His book on the Panama Canal is also excellent. This should be a good read.
