An article appears in the January 1972 issue (Vol 8 No. 3 - F-105 Cover) of Air Classics that goes over the Simmons collection containing many photos. Of note is a photo on page 26 showing an aft shot of 3 Yales. I was told that the tail of the Yale on the left side of pic is that of Shane's Yale 3390. I had purchased this Yale from Doc Gregg in Rockwood Ont. and the tail looked exactly like that in the photo. The Gregg auction was conducted on June 16, 1973. An article appears in the Air Classics Vol 32 No. 10 relating the Ernie Simmons story and an article appears in Sport Flying Vol 5 No. 1. The Simmons auction was in 1970.
In addition, I cut out Trade-A-Plane adds showing: May 1 1979 a Mr Rioux of Brampton selling one; 10-2-77 issue showing one for sale for $15,000 - Washington State; 6-3-81 issue indicating Mr. Bremer of Orlando Florida selling one (also says only 5 Yales flying to date); and 4 ads by Tom Reilly - 3rd July 1975, 3 Yales @ $3,500 ea., 9-3-76 issue selling one restored for $18,500; 11-2-77 issue - one needing restoration for $5500 (Tom changed phone number in this add); and finally 2-2-78 issue indicating a complete rebuild for one Yale for $6250. Hope the info fills in a couple of gaps...
