Tom Duffy Selling off Collection?

Wed Oct 28, 2015 11:20 am

Hearing the news over on the B-26K thread that Tom Duffy sold "Marines Dream" to somebody in Texas was sad enough. Now looking on Controller, I see his P-40k and P-47D are also for sale?! Whats going on?!

P-40K

P-47D

Is Tom downsizing? Getting rid of some aircraft he doesn't fly a lot? Or getting out of Warbirds all together? We don't have as many Warbirds operating out here on the east coast, and especially in New England. Duffy's collection was a strong one that you would see at many airshows. The Corsair will be especially missed. That makes one less in the vicinity of Stratford when we plan for the next Corsair gathering. :(

On a side note, whoever buys that P-40K, I hope they do the right thing and put her in an authentic scheme that would be befitting for a K model.

Just getting rid of a few because there are too many for him to fly regularly from what I was told a month or so ago. The Corsair was one I heard mentioned specifically and I thought the Spitfire but I could be wrong. Sort of surprised to see the P-47 listed though.

Yeah, considering his aircraft were kept at Millville Airport which had P-47s based at the field all throughout the war.

Word around the campfire at Millville was he is moving his operation to Toms River.

So I wonder which aircraft he'll retain? The B-25 for sure since that seems to be one of his favorite. It appears he favors the larger aircraft since he can take more family and friends. Hopefully he'll reinvest in some big iron perhaps.

Here's a couple of pictures of the Spitfire at Wings Over Houston, 2 weeks ago:

Isn't MK959 a combat veteran?

I talked to a couple of the Texas Flying Legends guys at WOH and was informed that 959 is a combat veteran, including flying over Normandy very shortly (days) after D Day.
