Speaking of Mustangs, I was curious about how many P-51's we have gained, as flyers, since 2000. Feel free to correct me, but from what I can make out, between 2000 and now, we have gained about 56 new P-51's flying, that hadn't been flying as of 1999. In that same amount of time, we have "only" lost 7 Mustangs due to crashes (that have not been repaired, or are not currently under restoration/receiving attention to fly again). Of course during this same time period, a very small number of flying Mustangs have also become static (such as the Evergreen P-51 and Bob Tullius' P-51 donated to the RAF Museum). Over the last year, the number of flying P-51's has hovered around 170 at the most.

Here is a list that I have compiled (thus may very well contain errors) of all of the first post-restoration/rebuild/repair flights made between 2000 and now (some aircraft are repeated due to repairs being undertaken). From my count, about 56 of these Mustangs were not flying as of 1999:
