Hi Wixers, What known warbird recoveries have been seized by governments, customs, caught in red tape, etc. and are just collecting dust in a warehouse or open storage? Thanx!

Isn't there a B-24 or LB-30 that was recovered in Canada but got stuck at the boarder by the local Canadian Government, Quebec I think?

I now the old National Warplane Museum received a C-46 and A-37 that where talking by the US authorizes (one for drug running and the other was coming from Vietnam).

Like Tim said, definitely the UH-1's AD-1's, T-37's, etc in Vienam come to mind as per the press they received back during the 1990's. I know that some of them have been successfully exported to Australia and other places, but I don't believe there's ever been an definitive published reports that have stated the final outcome (if any) of that situation. Are there still attack planes and helicopters sitting in the war-era revetments in Virtnam as they were ten of fifteen years ago? Are there still Skyraiders, Dragonflys, Hueys, and dozens of "canned" R-2800's and R-3350's available for export?

I note that Big Sky Warbirds LLC has 4 Super Sabres - all F-100F models! the FAA site doesn't give much info - it looks like one might be airworthy - BTW - who is "Big Sky Warbirds LLC" and what are they doing with all those wonderful Huns??

I digress but a local jet warbird owner who has flown a lot of a/c says the Hun is wonderful to fly but a real pain in the pain place to operate - takes a crew of three/huffer/GPU etc . . to get one started and then its a thirsty beast once in the air

Alas, no winning lotto ticket here!

I know next to nothing about the B-24. I first heard about it right here. You might be able to do a search for it.

If memory serves, I think Tom Rielly was trying to get the B-24 out of Canada many years ago. Never heard what happened to the airframe though.
