Roy Mabee Chino Collection (G-21A, Lockheed, Waco)

Mon Jul 11, 2016 11:16 am

Taken on July 9th, 2016 when I spotted the hangars open and some stuff pulled out. Haven't seen any of these aircraft in years!

The Waco registration seems to have been reassigned, not sure if it is one of these, and not sure of the project ID (next to the Lockheed):

Man, I flew with Roy in a Waco some 25 years ago. Most likely the one in the photo. How is he doing?

Whats that to the right of the Waco?
Neat "barn" finds!

In the mid-80's I was working around Chino and helped move the Lockheed 12 out of the hangar at Aero Sport when he was getting current with Dave Pepper. Gorgeous airplane at the time, polished to perfection as I recall.

Just remembered I had a couple snapshots of that sweet Lockheed 12 at Chino from 2007:

I'm liking the Goose and the silver 356 Porsche in front of the stunning Lockheed.
If I had my fantasy picks :)

It's a forklift! Unless you meant the nose of the Goose sticking out of the hangar....

The one in the hangar is N17399. Different than Les's highly polished one in the large photos. Roy's has been static for decades.

Oops! My bad. Sure would be nice to have two Electra Juniors displayed (or flying!) at Chino - wonder how much work Mr. Mabry's plane would need?

NOOO, When you work on airplanes everything is viewed from the pilots point of view, LH= left wing, RH=... well you get the picture   .
Its a high wing something, 195 maybe??

Fabric covered and painted red. Maybe some kind of radial engined Fairchild or Stinson?

This perhaps?

Didn't get a better picture of that. Didn't think anyone would be interested.
