Hi All,

New member here. This is a really good website, with many very talented guys (and gal's!). I am a senior Airworthiness Engineer by profession, and, until recently a RAFVR(T) Flying officer with the Air Cadets. I had previously served over 12 years in the Royal Air Force as a survival equipment fitter (mostly fast jets - EE Lightnings, Red Arrows Hawk aircraft, etc). I currently work for BAE SYSTEMS at Brough in the UK (home of the Hawk). On joining Bae back in 1988, I was an aircraft inspector on Phantoms, Buccaneer, Hawk and PC-9 aircraft. I once spent two and a half years as a professional model maker for the RAF.

My interests are aircraft and aircraft modelling - I spend all my spare time making model aircraft master patterns. I am married (to Sandra), and we have two children (Jennifer, 21, and Christopher, 19).

Derek

Welcome aboard, Derek. Could we see some of your models?

Hi Doug,

Thanks for the welcome. I do not make that many models these days, as I am always busy making model aircraft master patterns for kit manufacturers. However, I shall see what I can find for you.

Cheers

Derek

Can we see some of your current work with the master patterns? I've always wondered what it takes to make one.

I would say it would be fine to log it in her log book! :D

If that is the case friends of mine flew a BT-13 that I had with five soles on board!

Can you put that on your flight plan?

Steve

:D I guess I should put my mug up on the board. This shot was taken by my good mate Darren 'Motty' Mottram just after I had been for a ride in Ken Farley's beautiful Chippie. This was taken at Luskintyre, near Maitland which is about 25 miles away from here. Luskintyre is homw to the Luskin Tigers which is a Tiger Moth rebuild facility. More on that subject in another post.

Me, and my son, the only 13-year-old I know that thinks "jets are dumb". Voltaire was right. ;-)
