This link will be active for 5 years, his diary, with "politically incorrect" comments , which I have read from Jan. 9.might raise some eyebrows. And he hasn't seen any combat action ,yet. Good reading and should be made into a "sticky" . front page.

Well he's in the thick now. Next...participation! The Dutch sure had a spread of types there. The ancient&fugly Fokker T.IVa in Dec. '42, tube 'n fabric ...

The Curtiss Interceptor mentioned with the aerial display put on with the P-40's would be the CW-21B Interceptor. After the war labeled Demon after a misunderstanding about the abbreviation "Demon", for demonstrator, posted next to the type on a roster or photo, IIRC.

Yikes, 32 new resupply P-40's lost when the Langley was sunk. Patrol Wing 10's decimation of most of their PBY aircraft and floating around in the ocean looking for a new home after evac from Surabaya. Dark times...

Interesting thoughts about atomic powered aircraft for 1942 and no love for the CO of the Langley.

Yikes again! 42 out of 45 aircraft lost and the last 3 flyables have been declared unfit for further combat duties! PatWing10 is now a unit in name only.

This has been a fascinating read. Really gives you a sense of the pace of things during the war.

To all those who haven't had a chance to peruse - jump on board the train, it's just speeding up!

Very much worth the read. His thoughts on some matters may not pass current political correctness, but it's who he is at that time. Sometimes the updates are not prompt to the day , I wait till it catches up , no biggie. I'm in for the long haul.

Group,

As a corollary to the first few days of war battles, much of the remaining history is threatened. Discovered this a week or two ago, and been doing a lot of research since. Seems the well known and not so well known shipwrecks are now being viewed as a "resource" by "unknown" salvagers who are completely removing wrecks as scrap. The scrap is fairly valuable, and in some cases like a battlecruiser, would be a large known quantity. Many historic wrecks are threatened, but due to the very rare recorced visits to some of these ships, it is really unknown what remains. The USS Perch was removed at some point before 2016, and no longer exists, furthermore a photo of her remains on a salvage ship was captured. Unknown what USN policy may be enacted to protect these wrecks as the Chinese not only are developing the reefs, and also need the steel....
