Just got my copy of Blue Press and discovered with dismay that Mike Dillon went west on Nov. 7th 2016. RIP sir, what a legacy!
I'll never forget that red P-40.
Not just a red P-40, but a VERY RED P-40. A truly brilliant man. What a loss.
I've been clearing out my storage's recently and am hoping to run across a few magazines featuring that P-40N. I'm thinking they would be "Air Progress" (which he wrote some articles for later) and "Flying". I remember the issues and the color spreads of that bird(of which some were sacrificed to be stapled to the "Wall of WOW". I'm surprised that the Dillon Precision site, in all of their ample remembrances of Mr. Dillon, didn't have one dedicated to that bird. They redeemed themselves a bit with the February cover of the "Blue Press" bearing a photo of a very young Mike Dillon in front of her. For those who haven't seen it, link here to a pdf of that issue...
