That was the owner, Mike Potter, in the chase plane. The test pilot was John Aitken, who has been working on the flight aspects of this restoration for 2 years.

Mike has since flown it a number of times -- and is delighted!

Yeah, I saw that in that most excellent first flight report: the Spit's owner, and the project's chief knuckle buster, crewing the chase plane and observing the test flight close up and personal. How cool is that? Everything about that report just had me grinning to no end - including the great job (whoever) did in putting it together. Fabulous! 8)
