Just seen on Facebook, posted by Meatha Southern - let's keep Nelson and Dustin in our thoughts!
_______________________

I have permission from Dude to post what we know. Nelson Ezell was in an airplane crash. He was care flighted to JPS in Fort Worth. They are checking him now. Dude and ACE just went back to see him. Chad is in Oshkosh trying to get here. We don't know details. He is alive and awake. As you can imagine they have a bunch of people asking detials. Which is so appreciated. I will post as I know. Pray to Jesus for recover and direction for the doctors. This is the best trauma hospital around. They can fix him here. Pray travel grace for family and friends.

Pray for Dustin Mayhill he was in back seat. His leg was broke and is here as well.

A post from 25 min ago notes he has several broken bones and cuts. While that stinks, and is no doubt painful, it could have been so much worse.

EDIT: News articles indicate Nelson has serious but not critical injuries. Sounds like the engine gave up and the Sea Fury came down short of the runway, hard enough to split the fuselage.

We wish them both the best and a speedy recovery. They are in our prayers, too. The Ezell family is one of the nicest in the warbird world.

Awful news to see first thing when I log in! My fingers are firmly crossed for quick recoveries and my very best wishes are with Nelson and Dustin, their families and friends.

The KTXS story says Nelson has critical injuries

Last article I saw was encouraging- Sounds like he got banged up but they indicated that hte injuries were NOT life threatening- Obviously the News Media is far from perfect but lets hope this one is on target

KTXS us a good outfit, far better than most small city news organizations.
I used to work there, and I covered the Ezells in a couple of aircraft restoration stories.

As far as medical information goes, under new federal laws, hospitals can only release what the family says they can. Police too are limited in what they can say...so in a case like this, you can't blame the media (never thought I'd write that) for spotty information.

Best wishes to Nelson and his family, he's truly one if the "nice guys" in historic aviation.

Looks like a forced, off airport landing due to loss of engine power rather than an actual crash. Picture of part of the wreckage on a truck here:

Time to send that darn Fury to the crusher. It already killed Charlie Hillard, and that's at least the third time it has been wrecked under Thibodeau's ownership. Best wishes to both on board for a full and swift recovery from their injuries.
