This was sent to me in the Beechtalk forum?
Does anybody know the whereabouts of this airplane?

Message subject: Lost track of a B-25Folder: Inbox
Mr. Rozendaal, Good Morning

In following the P-51 thread I see you are rated in a B-25 so maybe you can lead me in a direction to find the whereabouts of a B-25 that I worked on in A&P school 50 years ago. I know, long shot, but what the hell.
I attended LA Trade -Technical College in the mid 60s. It was located across the street from LAX airport. In our back lot some corporation had gifted the school with a B-25 and it sat there for several years.
For my "runable" engine project I volunteered to get it running again. I was successful. Had it running well until we blew the oil pressure line to the left oil cooler and started dumping the oil out only to be blown over the bank parking lot behind. The school washed a lot of cars that day.
I've always wondered what ever happened to that airframe as it disappeared when the school closed.
Would you by chance know of it or know someone who might have any information on it? I'd travel to see it if its still in one piece.
Thanks for any reply,

Any ideas why it would be fitted for JATO in civilian use??

Les-Calco, Long Beach, CA January 15, 1958-1960.
- Registration N202LC reserved but not taken up.
- Converted to executive transport.
-- Fitted with airstair and JATO attachments.

I would suspect it was to get required performance to fly out of either mountainous locations or just high altitude airfields like Mexico City as was a fairly common practice back in the day.

Yes, people forget JATO was a factory option on Beech 18s (and perhaps Twin Bonanzas).
