The CIA run "Anstalt Wigmo" T-28s which flew during the Congolese civil war were later given to the Congolese AF, and as such were used for Coin duties until the 1970s. What I would like to know is if they were in use after Congo became Zaire in 1971? And if so, were they ever painted in the Zairean Air Force colors? I know the ex- Wigmo T-28 fuselage stored at the Norfolk & Suffolk Aviation Museum in the UK had theirs painted as such for a while, but it also wore a Congolese fin flash. The online photos of the T-28s that were flown to the UK after being surplussed all had the national insignia overpainted.
