Re: Worldwide Numbers of Warbirds Flying by Type

Just received an update on the current flying DC3s in South Africa. There are 12 (twelve) instead of 9 (nine): SAAF6814, SAAF6825, SAAF6828, SAAF6839, SAAF6852, SAAF6885 and SAAF6887 are current with SAAF in RSA and ZS-ASN, ZS-BXF, ZS-CAI, ZS-CRV and ZS-DIW are the civil current ones (thanks to Ray Watts and Pete van der Spek!).

With this, the total number of DC3s incl variants comes to 196!
To be continued!

Repaired after the emergency landing of 21 June 2019? Ferried only or "back in business"?

Got message today, that HK-122 went lost about 2009 in Mid-America during a drug-running flight. The plane was apparently set on fire after landing.
Anyone with details?

Just went through that amazing list. What an accomplishment!
But I have a question. In about 1990 I saw (and walked through) an Avro Anson owned by Canadian Warplane Heritage. It was a plywood example with large round side windows, and was painted in trainer yellow. I have pictures and negatives of it in the files somewhere... what happened to that aircraft?

It can be seen here on Google Maps. I believe reading it will be in the restoration que once a few of their current projects wrap up.
It can be seen in better times on their website.

Give me a couple of months I can give you an exact count on how many airworthy N3Ns and how many that are under restoration.

Maybe this will help?

Maybe Basler can buy the air-frame it after the investigation, I don't imagine it will be rebuilt otherwise

...and FAE116 had a landing accident yesterday.
Now 194 flying DC-3s in all variants…

An update, information from the discussion on the FAS116 mishap:
FAG530 and FAG560 in Guatemala are non-flyers. They are stored.
So: 192 flying DC-3s in all variants at present.
