Kermit Weeks visits Vintage V-12's

Kermit's latest video series has been a tour of Vintage V-12's. Part 3 goes live next Wednesday. Part 2 features some interesting Axis engines being worked on

Wow! I'm 2/3 of the way thru one of my bucket list wannados! Thanx Kermit and Jose for one helluva great tour...and of course Thomas_Mac for this excellent link. Very informative of whose doing what for who. Glad they didn't let it slip that the Jumo 211 is for Paul Allen's Stuka. The "bleep" and Kermit's 'stache kept us in the dark...

Couple interesting notes from their conversations. The Jumkers Jumo 211 being rebuilt will fit a Stuka or Ju 88. Hmmm. The Argus engine they were looking at will fit (depending on model/ hp.) A Bf 108, Pilatus P-2 , Fieseler Fi-156 Storch or even a FW-189. Any of those would be nice to see in the air.

The only guy with a Stuka and Ju-88, needing operational Jumo engines to fly, is Paul Allen/FHCAM. I was actually more surprised to see mention of the Jumo being worked on for Jerry Yagen's Flugwerk -190D and how advanced the BMW 801 is for Collings' Fw-190F.

Very nice. I just don't understand having a business like that in that state though, so many restrictions, and number 1 reason Ray moved out of there.

Additionally the Jumo 211 will fit a He 111 too.

Based on all official internet rumours
I would bet that Paul Allen is the customer for about half of the engines in Vintage V-12's axis dept.
Ju87 and He111 will require three Jumo 211's. (I can't think of any other projects that need 211's)
He has airframes that will require several Argus engines (I think the FW189 needs 12 cylinder Argus AS-411's https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Argus_As_411 )
The Jumo 213 destined for a FW-190D9 is quite exciting, replica or not.
No doubt there will be more of interest in Kermits next installment.

Andy, Paul Allen´s Fw 189 is one of the early versions (A-1), equipped with an Argus As-410 - only late versions had the As-411 -. But I guess, as difference to the As-411 and Renault / SNECMA 12 engines is minor, it will not matter at all if an As-410 or As-411 will be fitted. (Though maybe more 410´s are surviving?, as they were fitted to Swiss trainer Pilatus P.2, which served with Swiss AF quite long, and a lot of them went to private owners afterwards.)

BTW pic of an As-410 installed in a German trainer Arado 96 at Deutsches Technikmuseum, Berlin (my pic). Installation (firewall forward) is the same in Pilatus P.2, though exhaust pipes are different.

I think the Argus in the video was an 8 cylinder (which I guess was my point)

I'm guessing he's talking about Ray Anderson, from Anderson Airmotive. Ray used to have his operation in California.
