Trying to reinstall a B-5 drift meter in museum display B-25. It has a bracket on the back that looks like it hung up somewhere but can't figure out where. Anyone know if there was a "standard" place in the nose where it would have been stored? And what about it's use? Would it have been hand held to use or used from it's mounting bracket?
Any advise appreciated.
Curt

I don't know if Photobucket will still allow me to do this, but I'll give it a go. These pages from the North American Manual for the B-25C and B-25D are thye closest thing that I could find showing the drift meter installation. I'll also add a page from their B-25J manual showing more or less the same thing.

I should have included the next page after page 75 from the B-25J manual as it continues the mounting instructions. Including what is at the bottom of page 75, the complete statement follows:
"The driftmeter is stowed in a bracket in the upper turret compartment. The driftmeter port should be closed by means of the door provided. Place the driftmeter in the operating position and make sure that both catches are hooked before attempting to use it."

Larry,
Can't thank you enough for the B-5 details. I think this will be enough to help me find the mounting location.

I'm glad that I was able to help. I did a bit more research in the North American manuals and found a picture in the B-25H manual that indicates the driftmeter mount from a different angle. The H model was set up for single pilot operation and the navigator position was eliminated, but I believe that the driftmeter location was still in the same place. Here's what the manual shows, along with a crew position cutaway.

I found a clearer picture of the driftmeter port in a B-25J manual
