Time capsule no more! After the RAF museum managed to screw up the deal, seems the Egyptian AF museum took it and "restored it". unbelievable something like this can happen in 2017. Pics here:

I say we grab a few buckets of Bondo, head to Cairo, and restore the Sphinx.

How about some Silly Putty and model kit paint? Maybe a nice Metal Flake Sand?

Worst thing is, the pilot's remains are still out there in the desert.

Pitiful. Should have gone to the RAF museum untouched and displayed in a crash diorama scene. It can only be original once... Such a sad end to the story. At least it wasn't scrapped I guess.

WOW! The Flying Tigers movie mockups looked better!

Nice touch of concreting the landing gear into the stone.

Disgraceful.

That looks like serious Water Park decor

But I think to the Egyptians, that is a Mission Ready Plane!

Or perhaps payback for the British museum of old, which had a habit of taking whatever they wanted from Egypt....

While I am disappointing to see it wasn't preserved in an as-found state, or even restored more accurately, I am happy it is intact and on display.

I had kind of resigned myself to the fact that someone would sell the poor thing for scrap.
