Yeah, liberties have been taken for sure. Beyond that it appears to be very well made though. Somebody has a whole bunch of hours in it! The whole thing seems kind of odd to me. Why an F-82? Why so big? Why spend that kind of time on something and not make it accurate? Kudos to him for getting it done though. Most time these kinds of project languish unfinished until somebody hauls them off to the dump.

PS - Looks like it's got a couple of early "long nose" Allisons in it!

My guess is you're seeing distortion because of the wide angle lens used to take the photo. Someone who went to that much trouble probably did their scaling homework.

No, it's really too long in multiple ways. Look at the other pictures. Too much room from the exhaust banks to the front of the cowl, landing gear legs are too long resulting in too high of a static pitch, even with the long tail. I will say however that the radome is closer to correct, although I don't know it stuck that far out in front of the prop arc looking at reference photos. It looks to me like he blew up a set of plans from a plastic model that didn't do a good job of scaling in the first place which resulted in even more obvious errors once it got blown fully up.

At first glance I though the North Koreans had restored an F-82.

Egyptians surely? It's a caricature of an F-82 but yes it does beg the question why spend so much time and get it so drastically wrong?

I remembered the dome being shorter than that, but after checking some 3-view drawings it appears to be mostly correct. The angle of the photo may have thrown me off a bit. By the drawings the radome should be about another prop spinner longer than the F-82 spinner. If his dimension is off, it's not by much. Mebbee Kyleb is partially right, looks like the guy transcribed his dimensions off of a wide angle photo?
Regardless of the off proportions, the thing that strikes me most, is this fellow spent a lot of time, money, and skill only to turn around and offer it for sale on Craigslist! Quite a speculation gamble...It would probably do better with the wider market of e-bay, but I shore wouldn't wanna get stuck with the shipping cost!!!

It is quite a work of art tho...Luv dem "fat bob" drop tanks...
