The Vintage Aviation Museum, a 501c3 non-profit organization is bringing back to life a very rare Lockheed PV-2 Harpoon. 37276 has been named " Bad To The Bone " This aircraft was donated to us not long ago and preparations are underway to wake her up as she has been sitting for a number of yrs. She is currently in Buffalo WY and is one of the former Connie Hirth aircraft. Once she is woken up later this spring she will be flown to our home airport in Woods Cross UT. Currently there are only about 20 Harpoons left in the entire world, and of those 20 only 3 are airworthy at this time. Any donations for this effort would be greatly appreciated. For a limited time any one who donates $199 or more can have their name or name of their choice placed on the fuselage for the ferry flight, and later the names will be moved to the bomb bay where they will be preserved for yrs to come. For more info and pics or to donate go to our website http://www.vintageaviationmuseum.com

The Swoose is the only intact shark tail B-17. Our C-model B-17 will be mostly new build and will be airworthy when completed.

Are you able to use any existing B-17 components from other models?

How are the B-17 posts relevant to the PV-2 thread?

Well, when you go to his website to read about his PV2 it says he is building a B-17 C.Since I thought there was one only shark fin B-17 left (Swoose) I asked him about it on this thread. He was kind enough to explain what he is doing. And that is how B-17 info ended up on the PV-2 thread.I am sorry.

We have determined that we can use the later model wings so when we get new wing spar tubes made for the Desert Rat, we will make another set for the C-model. Since B-17 wings are in short supply we will end up just making a new set wings for the C-model. Although this thread is for our PV-2, we do not mind questions about other aircraft in our collection or aircraft that we are associated with.

This question is also unrelated but maybe important for your fund raising efforts or for people that want to visit you: do you presently have a location or hangar in Utah? I don't see an address on your website, but you mention an aviation festival at Woods Cross, Utah Skypark Airport on your events page. Are you located here?

Skypark airport in Woods Cross UT is our home airport. However we are not open to the general public except for special events thus the reason that we have chosen not to publish the address at this time. This will change however in the not too distant future.

If nothing has happened recently, a PV-2 still sit in a park in Luena, Angola. Ex- Portuguese COIN aircraft.

My bad! (to the bone)....I was reminded by Pooner the there are 7 PV-2s in Arid-zona....So 33?
Would love to see a picture of the one in Angola.
There used to be one in Portugal with another set of wings next to it, but the latest satellite picture I examined, it was no longer there?
Used to be one in Spain, heard it was scrapped along with an Albatross....anyone confirm?

This photo was eventually posted in a thread I started at Pprune.
Image

I did find another small photo of it in a blog by a guy who apparently worked down there. In the photo you see him with some local children, and the PV-2 sits near a roundabout in the city. Can't seem to find it now though.
