"Meanwhile, George Aird landed on a greenhouse and fell through the roof, breaking both legs as he landed unconscious on the ground. The water from the sprinkler system for the tomatoes woke him. He’s reported to have said that his first thought was that he must be in heaven."......love it ! :) :)

George Aird, was a deHavilland Test Pilot, and as such, flew Mosquito RR299 on a regular basis (along with original wartime DH test pilot Pat Fillingham) at UK shows in the 1960's and 1970's.
With his TP credentials and many Mosquito hours, George was the obvious choice to fly Mosquito B.35 RS709 and RS712 on their respective trans-atlantic ferry flights from UK to USA in the 1980's on behalf of their new owners.
