I curious what the going rates on warbird insurance is out there ?

I've heard of some sky extremely high rates for fighters and extremely reasonable rates for Stearman & T-6's, etc.

I'm curious who typically have the best rates out there and how much in general do people pay for what vs how many hours in type.

Biggest factor in insurance is going to be hull value. That alone will make a huge difference in the premium and is the biggest explanation for why you hear about fighters or bombers being very expensive to insure vs a T6 or Stearman. Just like when you compare insurance rates on a King Air or Gulfstream vs a Bonanza. The $100k Bonanza is going to be very reasonable to insure.

At the same time a top notch T6 restoration worth over $200k is going to carry a higher premium than an unrestored one valued below $150k.

I use Tom Johnson (AirPower Insurance) for my birds (T6 and Beech 18). He specializes in warbirds and other exotic types.

Also keep in mind that rumors down in Texas are that insurance rates are going to be going up this year after several incidents...

I'm honestly a little worried about T6 rates.

2018 hasn't been a good year for T6s.
