I had the rare opportunity this week to fly a 101 year-old airplane, a 1918 Curtiss Jenny with OX-5 engine. It needed to be flown from the maintenance shop to its home in Camden, South Carolina, a distance of 50 miles. I did a 40 minute test flight on it on Wednesday afternoon, then flew it over to Camden on Thursday morning. There was a bit of a headwind, and it only took an hour and five minutes to travel the 50 miles...

A few photos:

That's funny. All I see is a forest of struts and wires!

I must say that you have had a unique experience. One doesn't think of getting in an airplane that is over 100 years old. I'm envious!

Great to see one flying. Lucky man!
There was a local Cannuck which flew occasionally, but it was sold to a flying collection following the death of its 90 year old owner.I
I sure miss seeing it.

I love the sounds of the Curtiss and Hissos.

I thought that Google had intruded on everybody's life by now. Perhaps if it hasn't that's a small victory...

See if this works:
