Okay...kind of obscure question here, but does anyone have mid-1970's photos of the Whittington Brothers Hispano HA-1112 that they can post?

In 1976 when they were taking it to race at Reno as "Miss Florida 2", it was painted in a 'faux' RAF scheme that mirrored Jimmy Leeward's "Miss Florida" P-51 (now Cloud Dancer). Looked so out of place and 'wrong', but it was unique.

And in 1977, they repainted it to represent Ernst Udet's D-ISLU from the 1937 Air Maneuvers meet in Europe. UNFORTUNATELY, they painted it gloss blue, when in reality Udet's airplane was overall red. I'm guessing that they only had black and white photos to go by or something. But as inaccurate as it was, it really looked kind of attractive. I know it was at Oshkosh at least once.

Anyone know what I'm talking about and able to help out?

There is a black & white photo of the Buchon on a german forum, looking like this. But I am also looking for any color photo showing the exact colors it wore in the 70s. I just bought some decals for D-ISLU which would look good on my Buchon kit.

Okay, that's the same pic I have of her. This is actually a cropped shot of a larger photo taken out of Martin Caidin's Iron Annie.

Nope! My bad!
Connie Wilson donated the EAA's bird.
I looked through and older edtion of Warbirds Worldwide Directory and found no "Whittington's" listed as any owners in the HA-1112 histories. Could be it was owned by someone else at the time. Don Knapp had one listed in Florida, and Bubba Beal had one listed in TN.
Anybody out there know where this one is today?

N109DW is now with Flames of Pain. Eh, sorry. Planes of Fame as N700E.

I'm a little curious as to the profile of the Patton movie G-AWHG. The P-51D (N6356T) was painted in the same colors but with the more correct red/ yellow spinner bands. Same colors on those not so correct squares on the tail. Was the Hispano's then really painted blue/ red or is this the artists "artistic license"? I have never seen anything but b&w photos of the Buchon's so I just wonder.

As for Whittington's Buchon. Somebody must have shot photos of it while in the blue colors. I am fairly sure someone sent me some kind of a xeroxed copy years ago (b&w) of the plane sitting on the grass somewhere (Oshkosh???) in that scheme. That was from a magazine or flyer (EAA???).

I'm almost certain a color photo of the Buchon was posted right here on this forum in the not too distant past.

I'm pretty sure this picture was scanned out of an old EAA magazine but I don't know for sure. It was in a bunch of pictures that were emailed to me several years ago.
