Anybody have or know of a list of the aircraft owned by Flight Systems Inc. since it's founding?

If I recall, Bob Laidlaw started FSI off with one Sabre 6 (N186F) and three T-33/CT-133 N155X, N156X & N157X? (all ex-Flight Test Research Inc). Be aware that though Flight Systems 'owned' many Sabre 5s, these were only temporarily held during conversion to QF-86E for the US Army. The company also took Lockheed's chase Sabre 5 (N8544) in the mid-70s and had the FJ-4B N9255 from December 1971.

First QFs were N74170 and N74180, respectively.

N186F and N156X, April 1974:

I thought I would add to the list of the Super Sabre's that I worked on while employed with FSI.

N404FS 56-3899A F-100F
N405FS 56-30221A F-100D
Both leased from USAF

N414FS 56-3826
N415FS 56-3844A
N416FS 56-3916
N417FS 56-3842A
N418FS 56-3996A
N419FS 56-3971
All six F models purchased from Danish air force for USAFE dart tow work in Sardinia. N415FS is the Collings plane not sure about the others.

N2011M 54-2091 F100C
N2011U 55-2888 F100D
N2011V 56-3948 F100F "

The plan for those last three was to purchase the rest of the Turkish planes and convert them all to drones but for some reason it never happened. The "C" is at the Yanks air museum, the "D" at the Palm Springs air museum and the "F" is the Cutshall plane.

I hope I got all those numbers correct.

In thread #2..I assume the F4Ds quoted are actually F-4Ds?
Big difference. :D

Don't get me started on the whole missing/misplaced hyphen issue! Seems to be a modern phenomenon and it gets worse: the latest trend is to make the letter lower case: so we've gone from 'B-2' to 'B2', to 'b2' ('b2a' to be fully incorrect). I note other forums also calling the U-2 'U2', which is a beat combo from the 1980s. Again, big difference and makes the poster look like he/she doesn't know what they are talking about.

While we're on it, FSI had three Dart target tug A-4s (A-4B?), N401FS, N402FS and N403FS.

I also recall an FSI 'gate guard' F-100 at one point, which I'm assuming wasn't ever a flyer.

When the F-100 was on display at Mojave, gear gown and placed in a raised platform which looked to be a loading dock or foundation of an old building, I I took a photo of it next to my then new '79 Mustang fastback.

I had forgotten about the F-100 in front of the tower building. Although it was painted up as an FSI plane for a while I don't think it ever flew for them. I believe it is F-100A s/n 53-1688 and flew for Flight Test Research as N100X. It was suppose to go on display near the veterans home in Lancaster, Ca.

Thanks for the memory lane trip. I miss all the FSI stuff from what I consider the 'glory days' of Mojave. Those times are long gone, and I'd say 95% of the Mojave Mystique has blown away in the winds coming down off of the Tehachipis.

I remember back in the mid-90's I was flying out of Kadena AB in Okinawa, and one of the white and blue FSI (though I'm pretty sure it was TRACOR by then) F-86's was parked off the end of the ready alert hangars with a target hanging underneath the wing...I was so excited, but nobody else in the squadron even blinked an eye at it.

Hey, I don't really care! I pretty much repeated what the FAA records said they were. Scott asked the question, I did some research to help out. I don't know squat about Flight Systems other than what I read in the funny papers and what I saw on my occasional excursions up there in the 1980s. I'll let the hyphen police sort it out from there.

Found a negative of it: circa 1980.

Is that F-100 the one that was painted black for a scene in the miniseries The Stand?

As a young teen my Dad and I would fly there for the $100 cheeseburger in the late 1970's early 1980's and kick tires on the flight line- it was a magical ramp and you never knew what your were going to see, I clearly remember seeing Sabre's, T-33's, a two seat Meteor, F-100's, etc, etc. It was indeed special. I remember as a close by taxiing sabre pilot (cast out of Hollywood) gave me a nod.

I agree, in my two visits there I saw the sub-scale Beech Starship at Scaled Composites and a weird prototype pusher, the OMAC.
Also the twin engine T-33 prototype.

It was fun to see the out of service passenger jets (a lot of Convair 990s) and the C-133s you saw in the backgrounds of many TV shows and films.

If course the biggest thrill was seeing Airwof at the Bell distributorship at Van Nuys.
