What's next for Plane Savers?

I must say that somewhere along the way I became a junkie looking for my daily plane savers fix

DTD was flown successfully on 6/6 but that ended the series

Is there any news about a possible second series?

What are they going to do with DTD now that it's in flying condition (I heard that an oshkosh visit is a posibility)

I don't know what to do with myself after work

I remember in a rather recent video that Mikey himself stated that he wasn't fully sure yet as to what the future would hold for C-FDTD. He is the sole owner of the aircraft. The aircraft has since been flown to Thunder Bay, where it is now in the care of Thunder Bay Aviation (whose maintenance director is Jay Caldwell, who of course played a big role in getting the aircraft flying). It will be at Thunder Bay until it heads for Oshkosh in July.

I watched the last couple weeks of the series and really enjoyed it. A bit humbling to see how quickly they "get it done", whereas some of my projects have been languishing for 20+ years...

To me there is only one logical next step...Canadair Northstar!

I don't know how supportable its engines are, or airframe parts are available, or if there is even one could be made airworthy.

Still, it would be fun to see...pretty much the sole Canadian-designed armed military aircraft out there (other than some armed Tutors sold to Malaysia and the Argus patrol plane), you'd think someone would try to restore and fly one for national pride.

No, it belongs to the Québec Aerospace Museum, and was really featured in Mikey's videos so as to provide some extra promotion for their museum and the goal they have to restore it to proper display condition. In one of the videos, they describe how it would likely take about $2-mil to restore it to fly.

The "Fire Eaters" A-26 featured in episode 77. One of the ones used in the movie "Always" sitting in Red Deer. Privately owned but it would be easy to restore with Buffalo's maintenance facilities on the field.

Seriously doubt a jet will be the next series for Plane Savers. Seems they would go for something that is closer to their wheelhouse, like another DC3, C46, or even an older King Air. Time frame, location, and resources are going to be the main factors that may dictate what the season 2 airframe might be. How much money is available, how long will it take, how many volunteers will volunteer and for how long, and would Mikey still be up for an episode a day (along with his Buffalo GM duties), just to ask a few questions.

Also, how much different/difficult would the DTD project have been if not for their advantageous location next to ENA? Would they have finished by June 6th?

I hope there is another season of Plane Savers, as I too needed my daily fix, and still check everyday to see if there is an update.

I think Mikey should take a well deserved break. I can't imagine how time consuming it must have been to create videos for 160 straight days, let alone worry about getting DTD flying.

It was an amazing circumstance that DTD was located next to ENA. I'm sure they would have gotten it flying but not nearly as comfortably as they did with ENA's assistance. They were able to tap into pool of skilled local volunteers. Incredible how it all came together.

I wonder if they got that tow bar inside for the trip to Thunder Bay? It was an awesome show way to go to the team that pulled it off.
